Michy Batshuayi made the correct move in leaving Chelsea to join Borussia Dortmund on loan according to Belgium manager Roberto Martinez, talkSPORT reports.
Batshuayi, who struggled to fit into Antonio Conte’s plans at Chelsea, moved to the German club on loan until the end of the season in a winter transfer deadline day saga.
Since departing from the club, the striker has been on fire after scoring five goals in his first four games.
Former Everton manager Martinez spoke to talkSPORT on Monday and revealed that transferring to Dortmund could see Batshuayi involved in his World Cup plans.
Martinez is quoted by talkSPORT saying:
“Michy was always ready at Chelsea, but the competition was really strong.
“For Michy, it’s given him a very strong opportunity to be in the World Cup squad because of the environment he’s found.”
Blues fans will be hoping Batshuayi finishes this season off strongly and plays an important role for his country in Russia.
This could see Batshuayi entering the Chelsea fold next season or increasing any potential sum received for the player in the summer.
