Callum Hudson-Odoi was further starved of game-time in the Premier League today – and things are beginning to look bleak for the youngster.

Hudson-Odoi was pursued by Bayern Munich in the January transfer window, with the widely held belief being that thudsonhe Englishman was keen on making the move to the Allianz Arena. A Chelsea player he remains, though, for now at least.

If we wish to have any chance of keeping Hudson-Odoi beyond this upcoming summer, we need to begin to convince him that he can have a prosperous career here. Keeping him on the bench is not going to help achieve that, it’s counterproductive.

Yet, that’s what Maurizio Sarri continues to do. Take today for an example, Eden Hazard was withdrawn from the field and replaced by Pedro, who has played a lot of football lately. Hudson-Odoi was overlooked, meaning his league minutes tally remains unchanged.

Considering Sarri claimed that he would begin to view Hudson-Odoi on the same level as Willian and Pedro, it’s staggering that he’s not been given more opportunities in the Premier League. He’s not just a promising player anymore – he’s good enough, NOW.
