The media are continuing to link Chelsea with new managers, despite Maurizio Sarri seemingly turning things around at Stamford Bridge.
At one point it looked as though there was no way back for Sarri in SW6. Chelsea were on the receiving end of two batterings in the space of just over a week, with the club’s board reportedly growing impatient with Sarri’s inability to motivate his players.
However, Sarri has finally altered his system in recent games and is beginning to reap the rewards. Following an excellent performance in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City, Chelsea brushed aside Tottenham in a 2-0 victory at the Bridge.
Despite that, the Mirror believe that Chelsea have prepared contingency plans in case all goes sour. Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is thought to be our number one target in the event of Sarri being sacked, which we don’t see happening any time soon.
Zidane would be an excellent appointment if the managerial job did come available, but we ought to be focusing on getting behind Sarri and the team as we approach the business end of the season. We have full faith in our manager. Come on you Blues.
