Chelsea are getting prepared to take on Grimsby Town in the third round of the Carabao Cup at Stamford Bridge this evening, and it’s already been reported that a number of Chelsea academy youngsters are likely to be involved.

It is a perfect opportunity for Frank Lampard to rest some of his regular key players and give some game time to fringe and youth players.

One of those who is rumoured to be in the squad is 17-year old attacking midfielder Faustino Anjorin.

The youngster has come through the Chelsea academy and is one of those who is already highly thought of at the club.

Anjorin is eligible to play for England or Nigeria at international level and was born in Poole in the UK.

He has already been a regular feature in the England youth teams making 6 appearances for the under 16s, 3 for the under 17s, and 7 for the under 18s, scoring 4 goals along the way.

He is certainly a goal-scorer and has been showing that all through his career so far, particularly within the last two seasons at youth level for Chelsea.

In his last 28 appearances he has scored 15 goals from an attacking midfield position, which is a great showing of some clinical finishing.

He has also notched up 7 assists in these 28 appearances which shows that he has the creativity as well as finesse.

Anjorin is often compared to Ruben Loftus-Cheek and he certainly does have similarities with the way he carries the ball and powers past opponents with skill.

However, he offers many different attributes to Loftus-Cheek and he is actually further developed at 17 than Ruben was at that age. So the ceiling of potential is massively high for this youngster.

Keep an eye out for him this evening if Lampard does give him some game time, although I am sure that if he does what he always does, you won’t be able to miss him.
