The Sun report today that AC Milan are keen to make Tiemoue Bakayoko’s loan deal from Chelsea permanent, for the fixed fee in the deal of £30m.
Some Chelsea fans are keen to see Baka return to the club, given the transfer ban we could be facing this summer. That’s despite the disastrous time the Frenchman had at the club last season.
It’s easy to be tempted by the improved form that the former Monaco man is showing in Italy, but Chelsea fans shouldn’t be fooled. We’ve got plenty of options in midfield already, when you consider other players like Mason Mount who could be in contention for the squad next year.
Plus, if Milan offer the money in the loan deal, there’s nothing we can do anyway. So we should start planning now under the assumption that Baka will not be returning.
It’s good to see he’s enjoying his football and playing well again. Let’s let that continue. Bringing him back to England, where he really struggled before, will only disrupt his positive progress.
As long as we’ve got enough cover in the middle of the park for next season, we shouldn’t worry about losing Bakayoko too much.
