It is just twelve days until Chelsea make the journey up to Manchester to kick off their 2019/20 campaign.
The opener has come around quick, and Frank Lampard may well use the next friendly against FC Red Bull Salzburg as the perfect chance to start the match with the eleven players he will be using at Old Trafford.
I believe he will be much closer now to what his line up and formation will be on day one, and I believe we might see it tested on Wednesday evening, and again on Saturday.
I predict that we will see Lampard start with a 4-4-2 diamond. This will be due to having injured/unfit wingers, and also wanting to incorporate both Mason Mount and Ross Barkley in the same starting line up.
Predicted Line up (4-4-2) –
Kepa, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Luiz, Emerson. Jorginho, Kovacic, Mount, Barkley. Abraham, Batshuayi.
Lampard has flirted with this formation a number of times during pre-season, and I think we will see it tested once again tomorrow evening, and again against Borussia Monchengladbach in our final pre-season match on Saturday.
