- Ruben Loftus-Cheek needs to leave Chelsea in the January window.
- Loftus-Cheek was left on the bench as Chelsea faced PAOK on Thursday.
- Do you agree, Blues? Or should Loftus-Cheek stay and fight?
Ruben Loftus-Cheek needs to leave Chelsea in the January transfer window. He has been left with no option.
After the success he enjoyed on-loan at Crystal Palace last term, and earning a spot in England’s World Cup squad, Chelsea made the decision to keep Loftus-Cheek around this term.
He must have been left wondering why that decision was made when he was left among the substitutes as Chelsea faced PAOK on Thursday evening.
Loftus-Cheek is behind both Mateo Kovacic and Ross Barkley in the pecking order for that final midfield spot. His game-time this term looks as though it will be limited – if he remains.
Loftus-Cheek ought to begin the search of a potential January suitor immediately. Both home and abroad, there will surely be no shortage of interest in taking him for the final six months of the season.
We must make it happen, or we risk derailing his development. A move back to Palace would be a backwards step for Loftus-Cheek. Perhaps the Bundesliga or Serie A would be a good hunting ground for him.
A new experience, and regular minutes on the pitch, will do wonders for him.
