Chelsea welcome Grimsby Town to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening for their third round Carabao Cup encounter.
Frank Lampard will see this as the perfect opportunity to rest players, give fringe players some game time, blood in some more youth, and get some recovering injured players vital game time.
The Chelsea boss has already confirmed that both Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James ‘will be involved’ in the match, which will be music to the ears of many Chelsea fans.

There are a number of other players who will be hoping for a look in as well. Michy Batshuayi and Christian Pulisic will be in line to start the match, with Tammy Abraham expected to be rested.
The likes of Jorginho, Mateo Kovacic, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Cesar Azpilicueta are starting every match for Chelsea so far, so they should be rested.
It is also an opportunity to give some game time to some of the rising stars such as Billy Gilmour, Ian Maatsen, Marc Guehi and George McEachran, who have all proven their talents enough to get a look in against lower opposition.
Of course winning the match remains hugely important, because this will be a competition that Lampard might be taking a glance at being one he feels they can win, and we know how important trophies are to a club like Chelsea, whether they’re in a transitional period or not.
But even with Chelsea using fringe players and some youngsters, the team I want to see still has more than enough quality to do the job, and it might well put some of them in contention for more regular first team minutes, such as Pulisic.
Lampard should go with…
Willy Caballero(C), Reece James, Kurt Zouma, Marc Guehi, Ian Maatsen, Billy Gilmour, George McEachran, Ross Barkley, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic, Olivier Giroud.
