It was great to see Victor Moses make his return on Wednesday evening after suffering an injury back in October.

The wing-back hadn’t played in a football match since the shocking 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace earlier this season.

Despite the joy of seeing Moses back on the pitch, his performance was disastrous. This is perhaps understandable but it was an uncomfortable 15 minutes for the player.

It didn’t help that Chelsea were only 1-0 up against Swansea but the Nigerian couldn’t even do the simple things right. The player’s passing was off and he lacked energy down the right flank.

Davide Zappacosta deserves to keep his spot for the time being

Since Moses’ absence, Zappacosta has been of good service for Antonio Conte and his team. The 25-year-old may not be the most elegant defender we’ve seen but he plays with a lot of desire and hasn’t put a foot wrong this season.

Davide Zappacosta joined Chelsea from Torino in the summer for £23m.

Moses can claim his spot back eventually but the way Zappacosta is playing, there’s no reason why the Italian should be dropped.

Surely for Moses, things can’t get much worse after his latest cameo.
