What’s Gary Cahill’s future role at Chelsea?

Chelsea’s unbeaten start to season ended on Friday night, with the Blues losing their first game under the management of Antonio Conte to Liverpool.

Liverpool came away with a 2-1 victory at Stamford Bridge and were deserved winners on an awful night for Chelsea.

Since Conte joined the blues in the summer Gary Cahill and John Terry have been the first choice centre backs when fit. The signing of David Luiz and the returning Kurt Zouma from injury may mean Cahill finds himself demoted to the bench.

It was the England international’s poor clearance on Friday night that led to Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson scoring the match winning goal for Liverpool. The absence of John Terry was the perfect opportunity for the former Bolton defender to step up and show leadership qualities.

Once everyone is fit Conte will have the tough decision of selecting David Luiz, Zouma or Cahill to play alongside club captain Terry.

Gary cahill should be bench for some matches for him to learn from his mistakes, cos it was his mistake that cause us a draw at Swansea city and same mistake repeated itself against Liverpool, it’s rather becoming intentional so I suggest he should be bench for 2 to 3… Read more »
