According to the Daily Star, Kurt Zouma has told friends that he would be open to leaving Chelsea and moving back to Everton. Here’s why that can’t happen.
1.) The definition of insanity
The definition of insanity, or so they’ll tell you, is to continually repeat the same mistakes in hope of a different outcome.
Chelsea need to recognise that selling promising youngsters without giving them a chance has not worked for them in the past.
It’s been hard to stomach watching the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah thrive elsewhere. We can’t go through it again.
2.) Age and injury
David Luiz is the wrong side of 30, while Antonio Rudiger has recently suffered the second serious knee injury of his career.
Though the centre-back pairing were crucial under Maurizio Sarri, we believe this could be the end of the line for them.
Zouma has an excellent opportunity to steal either of their spots in the side, and he arguably has a higher ceiling than them both.
3.) The ban
Chelsea remain unable to conduct transfer business this summer. If Zouma were to be sold, we couldn’t spend the cash anyway.
It’s absolutely worth giving him a season to settle and show us what he’s capable of. We have nothing to lose, and a great deal to gain.
If Zouma is unable to break through or struggles to impress, we can sell him next summer and reinvest the money. It makes plenty more sense.
