Antonio Conte was clearly in a mischievous mood at FIFA’s ‘The Best’ gala, if Spanish outlet Don Balon are to be believed.
It is no secret that Chelsea are in dire need of attacking reinforcements. That was exposed for the world to see after Alvaro Morata suffered a hamstring injury against Manchester City before the international break.
Michy Batshuayi was left as our only available centre-forward, and the Belgian proved against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park that he is not yet ready to lead the line for the Premier League champions.
We need a new striker, and it looks as though Conte has his eye on one who already has plenty of experience in England’s top tier.
As per Don Balon, Conte approached Arsenal hitman Olivier Giroud at FIFA’s ‘The Best’ to enquire as to whether he could be available in the upcoming January transfer window.
However, Don Balon claim that Giroud is currently happy at Arsenal and will likely not be leaving the Emirates anytime soon. Conte will have to look elsewhere in his efforts to strengthen our attack.
