Chelsea and Manchester City are interested in signing AS Roma starlet Lorenzo Pellegrini, according to Calciomercato.
For those who are unfamiliar with Pellegrini – neither were we, so we’ve done some research.
Pellegrini is a product of Roma’s illustrious academy, but joined Sassuolo in the summer of 2015. He made 46 Serie A appearances during his time at what was formerly known as Stadio Giglio, finding the back of the net on nine occasions.
After impressing at Sassuolo, Roma opted to re-secure the Italian’s services in what Calciomercato claim was a £8.9M deal. However, despite only moving a matter of months ago, Pellegrini remains on the radar of two of the Premier League’s biggest sides.
Calciomercato claim that both Chelsea and Man City could see him as an affordable option to reinforce their midfield options.
But it seems unlikely that Roma, who already lost Mohamed Salah, Antonio Rudiger and Leandro Paredes in the summer, would be willing to allow one of their most exciting young talents leave on the cheap.
This is one to keep an eye on for the future.
