It may come as a surprise to some Chelsea fans, but there’s a lot of interest in Alvaro Morata coming out of Spain.
Recent days have seen reports that Barcelona are interested in the forward, and today Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra has indicated that Atletico Madrid are also closing in on him.
He suggests that Atleti are interested in a loan deal whereby they will pay 50% of his wages (a total claimed to be around €10m), with an optional €40m purchase clause in the mix too.
Morata would likely be very keen on this deal. He’s a Madrid boy and keen to go home, and while Barcelona are a bigger club, he would have much more competition for minutes there.
At Atletico, even just for 6 months, he could score some goals in a team that needs them, improve his value, and toughen up a little under Diego Simeone.
