Barcelona are interested in signing Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta, according to Football London.
Azpilicueta initially joined the Blues as a right-back in 2012, but was converted to a left-back by Jose Mourinho, who was not convinced by an ageing Ashley Cole or inexperienced Ryan Bertrand.
The Spaniard was a revelation, and fast forced his way into his country’s national setup. Upon Antonio Conte’s arrival at the club, Azpilicueta was moved to centre-back, and played every single minute of Chelsea’s title-winning Premier League campaign.
His good performances in SW6 do not appear to have gone unnoticed. As per Football London, Barcelona have accepted defeat in their pursuit of Arsenal right-back Hector Bellerin, and will instead turn their attentions to Azpilicueta.
However, Football London believe that Antonio Conte is not willing to part with Azpilicueta, who he considers a very important member in his squad. He is also thought to be under consideration to replace John Terry as club captain.
