Chelsea are on the verge of signing France international Olivier Giroud from Arsenal, according to the Telegraph.

The Premier League champions’ LONG pursuit of a new striker this month appears to be coming to a close. We’ve been linked with the likes of Edin Dzeko and Fernando Llorente, and even Peter Crouch and Ashley Barnes, but we’ve (finally) settled on a player who has proven his quality both in the Premier League and on the international stage.

As per the Telegraph, Chelsea have agreed a £18M fee with Arsenal for the transfer of Giroud. It is reported that Michy Batshuayi will join Borussia Dortmund on loan, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang becoming a Gunner, completing an end-of-window-transfer-merry-go-round.

Giroud will be able to provide Alvaro Morata with genuine competition for the starting spot at the spearhead of Antonio Conte’s attack. Giroud’s arrival may be the kick up the backside that Morata needs to get him scoring again. We can hope…
