Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing AS Roma utility man Alessandro Florenzi.
Antonio Conte will be well accustomed to Florenzi’s strengths and weaknesses following their time together with the Italian national team. Not to mention that the 27-year-old would fit like a glove into the right-wing-back role, as well as being capable of playing in the middle of the park.
Whether or not Conte will be Chelsea manager come the start of next season remains to be seen, but irrespective of that, our interest in Florenzi would make complete sense. Especially when you consider that we may be able to poach him from AS Roma on the cheap.
The Gazzetta report that Florenzi is unlikely to sign a contract extension with AS Roma. Chelsea have been alerted to the situation, with his current employers either being forced to sell-up now or lose him on a free next summer.
There is no shortage of interest in signing him, however. The Gazzetta report that Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan are all also keen. Chelsea will have to fend off interest from the Italian trio to have any chance of securing Florenzi’s services.
