Ruben Loftus-Cheek has issued a warning to Chelsea – he needs to be playing regular football.

Loftus-Cheek is one of the most talented players to graduate from our academy, during a period in which our youth teams have dominated both domestically and in Europe.

He has taken to the professional game like a fish to water, proving himself to be a useful asset to Antonio Conte in 2016/17, before establishing himself as an important member of Crystal Palace’s squad last time around.

His superb performances at Selhurst Park earned him a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad. Loftus-Cheek is heading to the World Cup, and we can’t wait to see him in action in Russia.

After returning from the competition, the youngster will have a decision to make on his future. He has heavily suggested that where he will be playing next season depends on how much first-team action he would be provided with at Stamford Bridge.

Loftus-Cheek is quoted by the Mirror saying:

“Going forward I’ve really realised the importance of playing regularly for my own progress and development.”

“I felt like I got better and better every game at Palace so playing regularly is the key going forward and that will help me make my decision after the World Cup.”

What do you think, Blues? Should Loftus-Cheek be offered a starting role next season, or does another loan beckon? Let us know what you think in the comments.
