Chelsea have confirmed on the club’s official website that Mario Pasalic has signed for Atalanta on a season-long loan.
Pasalic was involved in the second-half of Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Perth Glory earlier this week, which suggested that Maurizio Sarri might opt to keep him around.
The Croatian impressed during his time at Monaco, but loan spells with Milan and Elche proved less successful for the 23-year-old.
After spending the previous campaign with Spartak Moscow, you could be forgiven for thinking that the club would finally cash-in on him this summer.
We have decided against it, though. Pasalic will spend the 2018/19 campaign with Atalanta, before returning in the exact same position once again next year.
Hopefully this loan will be the making of him and he will return ready to make an impact on the first-team at Stamford Bridge.
We all know how difficult it is to break free of Chelsea’s loan cycle, though…
