Maurizio Sarri is reportedly keen to take Juventus defender Daniele Rugani to Chelsea this summer.
It seems absurd to be discussing a manager’s transfer plans before they have even been officially appointed, yet all we have seen in recent weeks are reports explaining who Sarri would like to add to Chelsea’s ranks.
One player who Sarri is thought to be keen on signing is Rugani. That’s according to Football Italia, who believe that Sarri continually attempted to prise the 23-year-old away from Turin during his time at Napoli manager.
Aurelio De Laurentiis may have been unable to provide him with the Italy international, but Roman Abramovich has the financial firepower to sign any of Sarri’s targets should the club deem them a worthy addition.
Sarri worked alongside Rugani during his time as manager of Empoli. Could he be set for a summer reunion with his former defender in West London? We’ll have to wait and see.
