- Chelsea throw in the towel in pursuit of Gonzalo Higuain.
- Complexities of the deal will prevent it happening this month.
- Who should we sign instead, Blues? Let us know @TalkChelsea.
Chelsea have reportedly give up hope of attempting to lure striker Gonzalo Higuain from AC Milan this month.
Higuain appeared to be the perfect solution to our goal-scoring woes. He knows how to find the back of the net better than most on the planet, and has a pre-existing understanding of Maurizio Sarri’s system.
There was talk that he could depart the San Siro for Stamford Bridge this January, with Alvaro Morata heading in the other direction. However, that move does not look as though it’ll be materialising this window.
Goal report that the complexities of the deal look as though they’ll prevent it happening, for now at least. Higuain will be remaining with Milan, and Chelsea will have to look elsewhere in their efforts to bolster their attack.
It’s a shame, Hguain would have fitted like a glove. However, signing the Argentine will only ever have been a short-term solution. Perhaps it could prove to be a blessing if we’re forced to look longer-term.
