Chelsea have already been in contact with three midfielders over the possibility of replacing N’Golo Kante, according to reports in France.
We’re reluctant to buy into rumours linking Kante with a move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer. Kante is already a level above Ligue 1, having won the Premier League title with both Leicester City and Chelsea.
If Barcelona or Real Madrid came knocking, we’d understand completely if Kante had his head turned. But PSG? What’s the point? They’ve proven themselves unable to compete in Europe in recent years. Would a Ligue 1 title really appeal to him that much?
According to France Football (via Sport Witness), it seems to be a matter of Kante’s representatives urging him to return to France, rather than these reports being a reflection of his own desires.
Either way, the report claims that Chelsea have been in contact with Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele, Napoli’s Amadou Diawara and OGC Nice’s Jean Michael Seri over the possibility of replacing Kante.
Of course, none of these players will emerge as serious targets unless Kante leaves, which we consider to be a real improbability. Let’s wait and see.
