Sky Sports Journalist Guillem Balague has revealed that Chelsea is open to selling goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois at the end of the season.

The Blues have begun talks between extending the player’s contract that expires in 18 months time.

As per Sky Sports, the Blues would be willing to make Courtois the highest paid goalkeeper in the world. However, it’s likely that the Belgian’s future will be cleared up in the summer.

Real Madrid are in the front running to sign the 25-year-old but have yet to make any formal offer.

There’s still a good chance that Courtois will lengthen his time at Stamford Bridge but his future remains uncertain for the time being.

Potential Courtois replacements

In his column for Sky Sports, Balague understands that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has identified two replacements for Courtois.

Sevilla’s Sergio Rico and Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak are two of several names on the champions’ shortlist.

The Daily Mail reported in November that Stoke City man Jack Butland was also named as a potential predecessor to Courtois.

Despite the talent and potential these goalkeepers may have. Courtois is on a different level and has shown his quality for several seasons with us.
