Chelsea are planning to hijack Manchester United’s move to sign Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid, with Diego Costa set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, according to the Mirror.

As the Mirror report, Costa’s Chelsea career appears to be coming to an end after three years in West London, with Antonio Conte informing him by text message that he is not in his plans for next season.

The Mirror believe that Chelsea have identified Morata, and Everton hitman Romelu Lukaku, as potential replacements for Costa, and it appears as though a move to sign the former is imminent.

As per the Mirror, Morata has agreed terms with Man United ahead of a move to Old Trafford, but Roman Abramovich is not going to stand by and watch it happen without putting up a fight.

The Mirror report that Abramovich has given the green-light to a £70M bid for Morata, only time will tell if that’s enough to pip United to the post.
