Chelsea are interested in signing AS Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, according to the Telegraph.
Lemar graduated from the academy of N’Golo Kante’s former employers Caen in 2013, and wasted no time showcasing his talent in Ligue 2.
The Frenchman joined Monaco in 2015 and has developed into a far more accomplished winger than when he arrived.
Now a full France international at 22-years-old, Lemar appears to be attracting plenty of interest from the Premier League.
As per the Telegraph, both Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in signing Lemar, and the Premier League champions have now entered the race to secure his signature.
The report claims that Chelsea will have to pay a club-record £80M if they want to have any chance of signing Lemar. In the modern, inflated transfer market, that’s the price you have to pay to sign a player of his quality and potential.
This is certainly one to keep an eye on. Knowing our board’s track record, it seems unlikely that they’ll be willing to pay that… but who knows.
