The mother of CSKA Moscow midfielder Aleksandr Golovin has confirmed that her son is in talks over joining Chelsea this summer.

The Blues could do with recruiting midfield reinforcements this summer, with all three of our recent signings in the middle of the park failing to have any sort of impact alongside N’Golo Kante.

Tiemoue Bakayoko, Danny Drinkwater and Ross Barkley were recruited for a combined £90M, but have done little to justify such considerable expenditure.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek has now returned from his loan spell with Crystal Palace, but as is the nature of being a young player at Chelsea, the club clearly do not deem him to be enough.

According to The Sun, Chelsea are hoping to sign a £27M deal to sign Russian hero Golovin in the coming weeks. The player’s own mother has confirmed that talks are ongoing.

Golovin’s mother, Svetlana, revealed that Chelsea are in talks with her son, but he is currently only focused on the World Cup. She’s quoted by The Sun saying:

“Yes, now there are talks between the clubs, but we still do not know the details.”

“Sacha right now stands only for the Russian team, fully focused on the World Cup. The transition from one club to another will only be discussed after it is completed here.”

As soon as Russia are eliminated from the World Cup, don’t be surprised to see considerable progress on this deal come pretty swiftly.
