Chelsea are interested in signing Napoli attacker Lorenzo Insigne, according to Calciomercato.
We were linked with a plethora of Napoli players following Maurizio Sarri’s appointment, but a reported non-belligerence agreement in the deal that took Sarri to Stamford Bridge prevented any of the moves materialising, bar Jorginho.
Though it’s unlikely that Aurelio De Laurentiis will ever sell to us again, especially following a string of bitter comments about Sarri, that won’t necessarily stop Chelsea trying their luck.
According to Calciomercato, Insigne is on our shopping list, but the Italian’s release clause is astronomical. Insigne has changed his agent to Mino Raiola, which knowing him, could cast doubt over his future at the Stadio Olimpico.
However, the report claims that Raiola’s appointment will in fact increase Insigne’s release clause to as much as €200M. That’s a price that, in reality, Chelsea are never going to pay. We’ll be forced to look elsewhere.
