According to the Telegraph, Rob Green will undergo his Chelsea medical today ahead of completion of the deal.
News broke on Tuesday night that Green was poised to become Chelsea’s second signing of the summer transfer window.
He’s not quite as exciting as the first, or as many of the players that we’ve been linked with in recent weeks, but his arrival is every bit as necessary.
With Eduardo joining Vitesse on-loan, Chelsea are in need of a new third-choice goalkeeper. Green ticks all the boxes.
He’s experienced, he can offer guidance to the younger goalkeepers in the squad, and he’ll also qualify as home-grown, meaning we can sign an extra foreign player.
Green will also not cost us a penny, and it’s hard to believe he’ll be earning any considerable amount at his age.
All that’s left now is official confirmation of his arrival – then you can go and get your shirt printed!
