Daniele Rugani and Matias Vecino appear to be two of Chelsea’s most plausible summer transfer targets.

Chelsea spent the majority of last summer pursuing targets that we were never realistically going to obtain. On one side of things, as a fan, we’re happy that the club are showing ambition. We do have to adjust our expectations, though, else we’ll be forced into signing below-par players in the same manner as last summer.

According to Goal, Juventus centre-back Daniele Rugani and Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino are ‘serious targets’ for Chelsea. The pair are 23 and 26-years-old respectively, and there is a belief that Chelsea could get the deals over the line before the end of the summer.

Rugani and Vecino are not the type of players that are going to come in and propel Chelsea back to the top of English football. However, improving the overall quality of the squad will provide Maurizio Sarri with an almighty leg-up during the long and treacherous campaign that lies ahead.
