Maurizio Sarri reportedly wants to sign four players from Serie A for Chelsea this summer.

With every day that passes with Sarri being linked with the Chelsea managerial post, more and more reports are coming out about his potential transfer targets.

The majority of the players linked with Chelsea in recent weeks are based in Serie A. That was inevitably going to happen. Sarri knows Italian football well, it’s his area of expertise.

Chelsea’s scouting network is obviously broader than Italy’s top-flight, but Sarri will have an idea of players he’d like to see at Stamford Bridge, and it’d come as no surprise if they were Serie A based.

According to Tuttosport, the players that Sarri is interested in signing are as follows: Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain, Napoli attacker Dries Mertens, and centre-back duo Kostas Manolas and Daniele Rugani.

All, on paper, would improve us. The only potential stumbling blocks are the ages of Higuain and Mertens, who are both now over 30 and could only be offered one-year contract due to pre-existing club policy.
