Antonio Conte

Edin Dzeko will be a Chelsea player by the end of the January transfer window, according to agent Massimo Briaschi.

On Wednesday, the Guardian claimed that Premier League champions Chelsea had reached an agreement with AS Roma to sign Dzeko as part of a double-deal which would also take left-back Emerson Palmieri to Stamford Bridge. The pair would add much-craved squad depth to Antonio Conte’s ranks with the games coming thick and fast.

However, Sky Sports then got in on the act and claimed that the deal was unlikely to materialise. AS Roma director Monchi insisted that the club had received no offers that matched their valuation of the Bosnian target-man.

Agent Massimo Briaschi, though, claims that the deal is still likely to materialise. The former Juventus attacker is quoted by the Daily Star saying:

“Now he has a foot in London. There are still situations to be fixed but I think he will go to Chelsea.”

With the clock ticking towards the deadline, we need to act fast in order to ensure Conte is not left short. Dzeko would be a good start.
