Michy Batshuayi is set to return to Chelsea – but it doesn’t look as though he’ll be sticking around at Stamford Bridge.

Valencia’s sporting director today confirmed that they were in negotiations with Chelsea to cut Batshuayi’s loan short. His time at the La Liga club has been tough for all involved and ending it here is the best decision for all parties.

The question on everyone’s mind in wake of this news is – what next for Michy?

It’s clear that Maurizio Sarri doesn’t rate him, else he would have stuck around beyond pre-season. Even with our dire need for a new striker, it’s hard to see him returning to West London and joining up with the Chelsea squad.

Another loan beckons, and the Telegraph believe that Everton are one of the frontrunners to sign him. Though several clubs are thought to be keen, the Toffees have the financial power to meet our loan fee demands, and of course, Batshuayi’s wages.

We’ll have to wait and see how this one unfolds. It’s a real shame that Maurizio doesn’t think highly of him, as he’s proven he’s capable of scoring goals on a regular basis.
