Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has just confirmed that Jorginho will be joining Chelsea this summer.

Jorginho had been long-term linked with a move to Manchester City. He appeared to be Pep Guardiola’s number one target to replace Yaya Toure, who left the club following the expiration of his contract.

Chelsea have swooped in at the eleventh hour and hijacked the deal. We haven’t shown this level of competitiveness in the transfer market in recent years, but Roman Abramovich appears unwilling to spend another season watching the Champions League on the tele.

De Laurentiis has now confirmed the deal, suggesting that it was Jorginho’s choice to join Chelsea from Napoli.

Jorginho will slot into the midfield alongside N’Golo Kante. Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater were recruited last summer, but neither have proven complimentary to the Frenchman.

Chelsea will soon have a new midfielder, and our first signing of the summer. Get in!
