- REVEALED: Chelsea’s £140M transfer wish-list is packed full of quality
Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign Chelsea target and Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.
Ndombele was initially labelled a potential replacement for N’Golo Kante at Stamford Bridge. Following Tiemoue Bakayoko’s big-money move from AS Monaco last summer, it would be odd for us to sign a player with a similar profile.
Though we don’t believe that Kante will leave this summer, he has shown no willingness to do so and the club will be incredibly reluctant to sell, it’s always best to have a contingency plan in place just in case the unthinkable happens.
Ndombele is thought to be that contingency plan, but there is a host of Premier League interest in signing the Frenchman this summer. The Sun report that Tottenham Hotspur hold a pre-existing interest in signing him, while Man United have also now joined the race.
It remains to be seen if Chelsea’s interest is genuine enough to be forced into action here, or we’ll happy sit by and watch Ndombele move to a rival knowing that our midfield is already stacked with quality.
