Chelsea’s summer business may well have only just begun. Reports in Italy claim that we want five more. That seems incredibly unrealistic in such a short period of time.

Jorginho and Rob Green are a good start. One is a quality addition to our midfield, the other helps with Chelsea complying with the Premier League home-grown quota.

It’s not enough, though. Not to bridge the gap between ourselves and champions Manchester City. It’s not even close to being enough.

Further additions are required, and Italian publication Tuttosport believe that we may well get them in the next couple of weeks.

Their report claims that the five players Chelsea are eyeing are Gonzalo Higuain, Miralem Pjanic, Daniele Rugani, Pepe Reina and Matias Vecino.

All five are currently competing in Serie A. It’s be a bizarre transfer window if six out of our seven acquisitions came from Italy – and the other was Rob Green.

It’s going to be a busy end of the window for Marina Granovskaia. We wish her the best of luck in upcoming negotiations…
