Chelsea have taken the lead over BATE Borisov in the Europa League through Olivier Giroud’s first of the season.
The Frenchman had failed to find the back of the net in his first 11 appearances for the Blues this season. With Maurizio Sarri’s men heading into half-time in Belarus without registering a shot on target, he, and his teammates, needed to step-up.
Emerson Palmieri delivered a gorgeous cross from the left-hand-side, which was met by the head of World Cup winner Giroud. The former Arsenal striker headed home into the back of the BATE net, FINALLY breaking the deadlock. GET IN!
