N’Golo Kante once again showcased his world-class ability for France against Peru on Thursday afternoon.
Heading into this tournament, Kante was already considered one of the best midfielders on the planet. He was, though, just another talented player in a star-studded French squad.
He’s a lot more than that now.
France have limped through their opening two group games, despite securing maximum points. That’s in no small part thanks to the influence of Kante in midfield.
The below stat, provide by Opta on Twitter, shows just how good Kante has been this tournament for Les Blues.
27 – N’Golo Kanté already made 27 recoveries this World Cup tournament (incl. 13 v Peru), only one French outfield player managed to reach that tally in 2010 or 2014 (Paul Pogba, 28 in 2014). Giant. pic.twitter.com/FyYosVf3NK

His France teammates will have to get their backsides into gear if Kante wants to get his hands on the World Cup trophy next month.
Regardless of whether they are triumphant or not in Russia, though, Kante can return to Chelsea with his head held high knowing that he left it all on the pitch.
