Chelsea’s very own Gary Cahill and Ruben Loftus-Cheek went absolutely mental when England booked their place in the World Cup quarter-finals last night.
Neither player was involved in the game, but that wouldn’t have mattered to them. Seeing Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier make history with the winning penalty in the shootout sent the entire country into pandemonium.
This is the first England team ever to win a penalty shootout at a World Cup finals. Not only that, but they booked a date with Sweden in the last eight, meaning they have a great chance of reaching the semis.
Victory has never tasted so sweet for Cahill and Loftus-Cheek, who charged from the touchline towards their teammates and bundled on top of them. Congratulations, guys!
