Chelsea fans were just starting to get nervy about a lack of action from their club in the transfer market, and it looks like the club heard those noises. This week they’ve really kicked into gear, and this morning we got our first “here we go” of the window from Fabrizio Romano, confirming an incoming transfer.
Chelsea have verbal agreement for Marco Palestra
Things have moved quickly. We only started to hear the Marco Palestra rumours on Monday night. By Wednesday, Romano was confirming a “verbal agreement” between the Blues and Atalanta for a “package over €55m plus sell on clause.”
That is a very, very steep price to pay for a player who is talented but not yet a star by any means. We can only assume Malo Gusto will be leaving for a big fee.
It’s described as a “hijack” of Inter’s move, after the Italian Champions thought they had landed their former academy player as a replacement for Denzel Dumfries.
Signing a wing back seems to indicate that new manager Xabi Alonso may be planning to use a back three.
We should hear official confirmation of the deal from Chelsea in the coming days.
