Andreas Christensen is set to join up with Antonio Conte’s squad for Chelsea’s pre-season tour, report beinsports.
Christensen’s two-year stint with Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchenglabach has proven to be an excellent move for all parties involved. Gladbach have had an excellent servant at the back for the past two seasons. Christensen has been given the opportunity to play regular first-team football and develop into one of the best young centre-backs in the world. Chelsea are, ultimately, going to be the side that benefits from the Dane’s progression.
It appears as though after a successful spell away from Cobham, Christensen is now set to return in order to showcase his talent to Conte. beinsports quote Christensen, who reveals:
I will join up with Chelsea on 7 July. I have talked to the sporting director and all those responsible for getting the players set up with a flat and what else belongs to them. The sports director says the plan is that I meet like all the others and go through the pre-season.
It remains to be seen whether Christensen is able to displace any of Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz and Gary Cahill at the back, but he is certainly good enough. If he manages to cement his name on the team sheet, he may never look back.
