Antonio Rudiger was withdrawn during Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with West Ham United after sustaining an injury.
Rudiger has emerged as an integral part of Chelsea’s current setup. He was ever present under Antonio Conte, and has played a starring role thus far under the stewardship of Maurizio Sarri.
The prospect of losing him to injury is one that none of us wish to entertain. However, the Germany international was forced to leave the field with 20 minutes to go at the London Stadium, sparking fears he could be set to miss out top of the table clash with Liverpool.
The damage done to Rudiger is yet unclear, but with our game with the Reds so soon, this is the last thing that we needed.
Gary Cahill replaced Rudiger today, but Andreas Christensen appears the most likely to step in and deputise if Rudiger is not fit to feature against Liverpool. We eagerly await an update on his condition.
