Chelsea have been linked with several Real Madrid players this season but then there’s none more surprising than rumours that Karim Benzema could be heading for the Santiago Bernabeu exit doors.
That’s according to Don Balon, who have been known to throw around bizarre rumours. The Spanish news outlet reports that Chelsea are readying a move for the France international.
Benzema has endured a tough season in the Spanish capital, scoring just nine goals in all competitions despite having the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo supporting him.
However, Roman Abramovich has seen something he likes in the 30-year-old striker but the Chelsea owner isn’t willing to cough up the £62m the La Liga giants are asking for, as Don Balon reports.
With former-Real striker Alvaro Morata struggling in his first season with the Blues, it would be very surprising to see the club go in for a striker of Benzema’s calibre.
If Chelsea are desperate to sign another realistic target from the Champions League holders, you would hope that would be in the form of Isco or Marco Asensio.
