In case you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll be well aware that Maurizio Sarri is on the verge of becoming Chelsea’s new manager.
Official confirmation would end weeks of speculation. At one point it appeared as though the move had fallen through, but talks resumed and are now reportedly close to completion.
Sarri’s appointment would spell the end for Antonio Conte, who is set to be sacked by Chelsea, according to the Independent.
Conte has been in limbo for weeks, unaware whether he will be leading Chelsea into the 2018/19 campaign. It has been claimed that we hesitated over his sacking due to the hefty dismissal fee we’d have to pay him.
Roman Abramovich now looks prepared to bite the bullet and put an end to Conte’s time at Chelsea once and for all.
He’s left his mark on this club and will be remembered fondly for his achievements in 2016/17. Grazie, Antonio.
