Ruben Loftus-Cheek limped off against Nottingham Forest last weekend in tears, as the run in the team he had finally earned came to an abrupt end.
It was horrible to watch, and we all hoped it was just a niggle, but reports in The Sun yesterday claim that he might need actual surgery on the problem.
That would apparently rule him out for the rest of the season, given that we’d already be towards the end of January by the time he has it.
That would be a massive blow both for us and for the player. He was just making his long awaited breakthrough, while we were enjoying being able to have him play both in midfield and as cover on the right wing.
If this surgery goes on to solve his problems we’re all for it. It’s just a shame it had to happen at this vital moment in his career.
