Glenn Hoddle has compared Chelsea hitman Alvaro Morata to Tottenham goal-machine Harry Kane, report the Express.
Hoddle played for both Chelsea and Spurs during his illustrious career, and even had a stint as player-manager at Stamford Bridge. He knows his stuff when it comes to discussing the two Premier League heavyweights, which is why his wise words should be entertained.
The ex-England boss has now been discussing Morata, who has enjoyed a near-perfect start to life in England’s top tier. Hoddle is quoted by the Express singing Morata’s praises and comparing him to one of the best strikers on the planet:
“He scores every type of goal. Left foot, right foot, headers, a little bit like Harry Kane does. He’s got everything about him.”
Kane has scored 98 goals in his past 144 club appearances. It remains to be seen whether Morata can sustain that sort of goal-scoring record, but there are evident similarities between the pair’s frame and skill-set.
If Morata can reach the performance level at Chelsea that Kane has in recent years at Spurs, then he may prove to be one of the most shrewd acquisitions of the Abramovich era.
