Chelsea’s new signings Kepa Arrizabalaga and Mateo Kovacic have been pictured training at Cobham for the very first time.
Arrizabalaga was unveiled at Stamford Bridge yesterday afternoon, while the acquisition of Kovacic was completed in the morning.
The arrival of the pair marks a positive end to a frustrating summer. They plug two gaping holes in Maurizio Sarri’s squad, and leave us feeling far more confident about the season ahead.
Both have now trained with their new teammates for the first time.
We feared that we wouldn’t find an adequate replacement for Thibaut Courtois with time running out in the transfer window.
After coughing up the cash and paying his release clause, Arrizabalaga is now a Chelsea player – and could be in line to start against Huddersfield.
Mateo Kovacic may well have only joined Chelsea on-loan, but he leaves our midfield looking far more accomplished than it was prior to his arrival.
The prospect of him lining up alongside N’Golo Kante and Jorginho in the middle of the park is utterly mouthwatering.
We may have to wait a little while to see him in action, as his willingness to leave Real Madrid meant he was not training with the first-team squad.
