Chelsea winger Willian believes that the Blues are not significantly weaker despite several high profile departures over the summer transfer window, report Sky Sports.

The Premier League champions have had their squad picked apart over the summer, mostly due to Antonio Conte’s eagerness to chop and change after winning the title. Diego Costa’s departure appears to have been the Italian’s decision, but the same cannot be said about Nemanja Matic

Matic was instrumental in two title triumphs during his time at Stamford Bridge and his influence will undoubtedly be missed in SW6. Despite this, Willian does not believe that Chelsea are any worse off than they were last term.

Willian is quoted by Sky Sports admitting that Antonio Conte’s men will miss the players that they have lost over the summer:

“These players are great players, we miss these players, but Chelsea always try to bring players with quality.”

However, Willian added during his interview with Sky Sports that he feels we recruited well and have enough quality to be competitive this season:

“I think the players that arrive have the quality to play here and the squad and the team are still strong. And we have to push till the end of the season.”
