Chelsea look to have done well in negotiations to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.
The Spanish international is on his way to Stamford Bridge, subject to a medical, and there had been suggestions that the Premier League champions would part with a fee in the region of £70M in order to secure his services.
However, the Telegraph believe that the actual transfer fee is considerably lower than that.
Matt Law, who tends to be on the ball when it comes to Chelsea news, claims that Morata will arrive at Stamford Bridge for a fee of £58M plus add-ons, considerably lower than the previously reported £70M.
Regardless, as the Telegraph report, it is a new club record, surpassing the £50M we paid for Fernando Torres in 2011.
It is also a major statement of intent, despite the arrivals of Antonio Rudiger and Tiemoue Bakayoko, Chelsea had yet to send out a message to their rivals in the transfer market… until now.
