Arsene Wenger

Another team appears to have entered the race to sign Chelsea centre-back David Luiz, and it may well give the Chelsea faithful some trouble sleeping tonight.

David Luiz can no longer be considered a valuable first-team player. That seems absurd to say after he was recently influential in a Premier League title triumph, yet there does not appear to be any room for him in Antonio Conte’s first-team squad.

Andreas Christensen, though just 21-years-old, has already proven that he is ready to start for the Premier League champions, and the Dane appears to have nailed down a starting role in the middle of our back three.

Christensen against Spurs
Andreas Christensen’s stellar performances for Chelsea this term have ousted David Luiz.

Christensen’s emergence has left David Luiz out in the cold, but¬†The Sun¬†claim that the Brazilian has no intention of throwing in the towel and will fight to the end to force his way back into Conte’s thinking.

However, that may not prevent advances from any interested parties. The Sun’s report claims that Arsenal, of all teams, are considering making a move to sign David Luiz.

That, quite frankly, is never going to happen. They ought to stop wasting their time and look elsewhere in their pursuit of defensive reinforcements.

Luiz Red Card
Not all has gone to plan for Chelsea centre-back David Luiz so far this campaign, but he’s not going to give up!
