Turkish side Besiktas have reportedly held talks over signing Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.

Giroud has played more of a considerable role for us since his arrival than many would have imagined. At the time of writing, there’s every possibility that he’s Maurizio Sarri’s preferred striker.

Considering the only other centre-forward on our books is Alvaro Morata, you’d think it bizarre that Chelsea would so much as consider the possibility of watching Giroud walk out the door.

However, Turkish outlet Fanatik claim that Besiktas have already held talks over the possibility of signing Giroud in the January transfer window, when he will have just six-months left to run on his contract.

Giroud will be available to sign a pre-contract agreement with any interested parties, but Besiktas appear keen to position themselves at the front of the queue. As a result, they’re thought to have offered around €5M.

It’s unclear whether Chelsea would be prepared to sell an important member of Sarri’s squad for such a measly figure, even if we’d lose him for free soon after rejecting it.
